“At the IFAJ Congress in Osijek, we will celebrate IFAJ’s 70th anniversary. Reflecting on the past seven decades of agricultural journalism and communications gives us a great opportunity to also look at our current environment and plan for the future.
From the organization’s start in 1956, when German, French and Belgian colleagues built bridges across the ruins of Europe – former enemies teaming up to help guide farmers through a period of rebuilding, growth and mechanization – to our current global reach, IFAJ’s members have been key players in the movement of information.
Agricultural journalists and communicators bring vital knowledge of technology, economics, and marketing to farmers. We also help carry the voice of farmers and rural communities to policy makers, officials, taxpayers and consumers. The combination of agricultural perspective and communications skills, along with an eye for what makes a compelling story, create a very special niche for IFAJ members. The organization’s commitment to networking and professional development have helped countless members grow as our industry has evolved over the past 70 years, and will help us navigate today’s challenges.”

Anniversary Highlights at the Congress
The 70th-anniversary celebrations in Osijek will feature the launch of a commemorative book showcasing global member guilds’ work, nostalgic reflections on members’ involvement over the years, and a sneak peek into upcoming programs for the next generation of agricultural journalists.
