Here is a quick overview of recommended transportation options during your stay in Osijek and Croatia.
Local Taxis & Ride-Sharing
For shorter trips around the city, local taxi services (such as Osječki Taxi and Taxi Wizi) are very competitively priced, while Bolt and Uber are also excellent choices. All options are readily available and affordable.
Intercity Travel
For travel between cities, we recommend taking the bus – FlixBus is extremely popular and reliable. Train service, on the other hand, is rarely recommended due to frequent delays.
Public Transport (Trams & Buses)
Osijek takes great pride in its long tramway tradition, having introduced the region’s first tram back in 1884. Trams form the backbone of city transport and are very easy to navigate, running primarily along the main east-west axis. Local city buses also reach surrounding neighbourhoods and suburban areas.
Walking
Osijek is an exceptionally walkable city. Major sights – from Ante Starčević Square and the Co-Cathedral to Tvrđa, the city parks, and the Osijek Promenade (one of the longest riverfront walkways in Europe) – can all be comfortably explored on foot.
Bike Sharing
To explore the city on two wheels, use the local public bike-sharing system. Stations are located across key spots in Osijek, including the Main Railway and Bus Station, Tvrđa (Old Town), and the city centre. Simply download the app to rent standard or e-bikes.
